Safflower Petals
Safflower Petals are not only beautiful to look at. They are often used in cooking as a healthier and cheaper substitute for saffron.
Health use: An infusion of beautiful, yellow, orange or red petals of safflower has a cleansing, analgesic and antispasmodic effect. It stabilizes blood pressure, perfectly counteracting dangerous, rapid changes in its value. What's more, Safflower has been proven to counteract instability in insulin levels. Which helps prevent or delay the formation of atherosclerotic lesions and also prevents heart disease. They’re also used in cosmetics for their hydrating and nourishing properties.
Other use: In coloring textiles and beauty industry, dried safflower petals are used as a natural dye source for the orange-red pigment carthamin.
How to make a Safflower Tea?
Put 1 teaspoon of Safflower Petals into 250 ml of hot water, cover and leave for 15 minutes. Put a bit of honey and you’re ready to enjoy your beautiful, delicious, yet healthy treat!
